Russia is doubling down on drone warfare as President Vladimir Putin reshapes the country's military strategy. While parts of Russia's wartime economy are losing momentum, the aircraft industry is booming, driven by soaring demand for drones and unmanned systems. Official data show output in the sector, which includes both military aircraft and drones, jumped 117 per cent in April compared with a year earlier. That far exceeds the average annual growth rate of 68 per cent recorded in 2025, according to Bloomberg calculations. The surge highlights Moscow's growing reliance on drones as a key component of its military operations in Ukraine.
