US President Donald Trump called the suspect a “very sick person” during a press briefing following the shooting scare at the White House Correspondents' Dinner.

Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were rushed out of the event on Saturday night after an armed man attempted to breach a security checkpoint. The suspect, carrying multiple weapons including a shotgun, opened fire at a Secret Service officer.

The officer was hit but survived due to a bulletproof vest. Officials said the attacker was quickly overpowered and arrested, while all federal officials, including Trump, remained safe.
