US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has called a new agreement with Armenia the “biggest step to date” towards making a planned transport corridor between rival Armenia and Azerbaijan a reality.

The Trump-backed route, known as the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), would pass through Armenian territory and create a road-and-rail link to Nakhchivan, which is separated from the rest of Azerbaijan by Armenia.
