Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin delivered one of his strongest criticisms yet of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government, warning that its actions are becoming "increasingly extreme" and urging the European Union to take a firmer stance on the war in Gaza.

Speaking during Ireland's EU Council Presidency agenda, Martin outlined priorities including economic competitiveness, security, EU enlargement, trade, and continued support for Ukraine. He also stressed that Europe must uphold international law and humanitarian values while addressing the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza.
