Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah has signalled a renewed push to strengthen diplomatic ties with India while seeking a peaceful resolution to longstanding border disputes through dialogue. Speaking during his first address to Parliament since taking office in March, Shah said Kathmandu has already raised the issue with New Delhi and that both sides have agreed to involve historians and surveyors in the process. The remarks come amid ongoing differences over areas including Kalapani, Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura and Susta. Border tensions escalated in 2020 after India inaugurated a link road to Kailash Mansarovar, prompting Nepal to revise its political map to include the disputed territories. India has consistently maintained that all outstanding boundary issues should be resolved through dialogue and mutual understanding.
