The Indian rupee fell to a fresh record low on Thursday as high oil prices and continued foreign investor outflows intensified pressure on the economy. The currency weakened to 95.85 against the US dollar, extending losses after hitting record lows in every trading session since Tuesday. The falling rupee could make everyday life more expensive for Indians, raising the cost of fuel, imported goods, overseas travel and education. As India relies heavily on imported oil, a weaker currency may also increase inflationary pressure across the economy.
