Russia has stripped its Victory Day military parade down to almost nothing — no tanks, no armored vehicles, and no missile launchers on Red Square.

For decades, May 9 has been Moscow’s biggest display of military power, showcasing tanks, intercontinental ballistic missiles, and thousands of troops. This year, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed those systems will not appear.

The Kremlin is pointing to Ukrainian drone strikes as the reason. Since the war began, Ukraine has carried out deep strikes inside Russia — hitting oil infrastructure, targeting military sites, and even reaching Moscow.

A static column of tanks and missile systems in the center of the capital would be an exposed target.

Last year’s parade featured more than 11,000 troops and around 150 military vehicles. This year, even cadets have reportedly been removed from the lineup.
