He also defended the urgency of the decision, warning that continued settlement activity could make a two-state solution “too late”. Addressing the situation in the West Bank, Miliband described reports of Palestinian people being “intimidated, harassed, bullied out of their homes” by what he called “settler terrorists”. He also accused the Israeli government of turning a blind eye to forced displacement, while stressing the need to tackle antisemitism in British society. The comments come after Israel ordered the closure of the UK's East Jerusalem consulate, escalating tensions between the two countries.
