European Union foreign ministers gathered in Limassol, Cyprus, for high-level discussions focused on Russia’s war in Ukraine and growing tensions across the Middle East. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas warned against falling into what she described as Russia’s negotiation “trap,” stressing that the focus should remain on strategy and continued support for Ukraine.

Officials from Estonia, Spain, Finland, and other countries said Russia has shown little willingness for peace talks or ceasefire negotiations, citing ongoing attacks on Ukraine. European leaders emphasized the need to strengthen Europe’s position, maintain military and diplomatic backing for Kyiv, and coordinate future security decisions.

The meeting also included the arrival of Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud, highlighting the summit’s broader focus on Middle East stability and international cooperation. The Cyprus gathering reflects increasing European concerns over regional security, geopolitical tensions, and the future of diplomacy involving Russia and Ukraine.
