Air India is reportedly set to cut around 100 flights daily as soaring aviation fuel costs begin to impact operations. The move comes amid a broader crisis in India’s aviation sector, triggered by rising global oil prices linked to tensions in West Asia. Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF), which now accounts for up to 60 per cent of airline operating costs, has surged sharply in recent weeks. Long-haul routes to Europe, North America and Australia are expected to be hit the hardest due to higher fuel consumption and market-linked pricing. Industry body Federation of Indian Airlines has warned that services may be curtailed without government relief. Reports suggest authorities are considering a ₹5,000 crore support package.
