European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said Europe remains ready for peace — but warned that Russia is currently showing no willingness to end the war.

Speaking on diplomatic efforts and the war in Ukraine, von der Leyen stressed a simple point:

🗣️ “If Russia stops its aggression, the war is over.”

She said Europeans have been ready “from day one” to engage in a peaceful process, but argued recent developments and continued bombardments point in the opposite direction.

Von der Leyen also highlighted the growing cost of the war for Moscow.

According to von der Leyen, the financing will help Ukraine “negotiate from a position of strength.”

She also revealed that Brussels is already preparing its next sanctions package.
