President Donald Trump has unveiled a sweeping set of claims about falling crime across the United States, saying the murder rate reached its lowest level in 125 years and federal law enforcement has arrested 1.2 million criminals nationwide.

Speaking to law enforcement officials in New York, Trump highlighted what he described as historic improvements in US crime statistics, while praising FBI Director Kash Patel, Attorney General Todd Blanche and police officers across the country.

Trump said the latest FBI Uniform Crime Report showed the largest reduction in violent crime in American history during 2025. He claimed there were more than 3,100 fewer murders than the previous year, along with major declines in rape, assault, robbery, burglary and theft.

The president also cited preliminary 2026 figures, claiming murders were down another 23% and robberies another 20%. He pointed to Washington, D.C., Memphis and New Orleans as examples of cities where he says crime has fallen sharply.

Trump further claimed that federal law enforcement has arrested 1.2 million criminals nationwide wesince he took office and that federal criminal prosecutions have increased by more than 50%.

The speech also focused heavily on immigration, sanctuary cities, repeat offenders, cashless bail and Trump's pledge to expand federal support for local police.
