Jammu and Kashmir's State Investigation Agency (SIA) has reopened the investigation into the 1998 Wandhama massacre, in which 23 Kashmiri Pandits, including nine women and four children, were gunned down by terrorists in army camouflage on the eve of Republic Day in Ganderbal district. The renewed probe is part of a wider SIA push to revisit decades-old targeted killings from the peak militancy years, with the agency also examining the assassinations of BJP leader Tika Lal Taploo and retired judge Neelkanth Ganjoo in 1989. Investigations have already concluded in two cases: a 737-page chargesheet naming jailed JKLF chief Yasin Malik and four others was filed in the 1990 abduction and murder of nurse Sarla Bhat, and raids were conducted across multiple locations in connection with the 1990 killing of poet Sarwanand Koul Premi and his son Virender Koul. Officials say the agency is working to identify surviving terrorists, over-ground workers, and their associates, with several suspects believed to be in hiding
