India strongly rebuked Pakistan at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) for spreading 'misinformed and misleading communications' and attempting to misuse UN platforms for a divisive political agenda. India's Permanent Representative to the UN, Parvathaneni Harish, rejected Pakistan's remarks on Jammu and Kashmir, calling them an unwarranted interference in India's internal affairs. Earlier, India also criticised Pakistan's reported plans to hold elections in Gilgit-Baltistan, a region that is part of the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. India said it had lodged a strong protest over the move. In his remarks, Harish also called for reforms to the UN Security Council, urging an expansion of its membership to make the body more representative of contemporary global realities.
