The premier says the new tariffs affect billions of dollars in Quebec exports, including food products, wood products, clothing, construction materials, electronics and other everyday goods. She warns that companies are already facing lost contracts, reduced production and potential job losses.

Fréchette announces new assistance programs for Quebec businesses affected by the tariffs and says the province will continue restricting American alcohol products from SAQ shelves while maintaining measures against U.S. companies in public procurement.

She also calls on Ottawa to provide stronger support for workers and businesses and says Quebec must carefully consider any retaliatory measures to maximize pressure on the United States while minimizing damage to Canadian and Quebec companies.

The premier also addresses Quebec’s French-language protections, the future of Canada-U.S. trade relations, Hydro-Québec electricity exports and her upcoming discussions with Prime Minister Mark Carney.
