India has launched a major aviation connectivity initiative aimed at making international travel easier for passengers from smaller cities. Under the new hub-and-spoke model, travellers from cities such as Varanasi, Amritsar, Ahmedabad, Kochi, Goa, Hyderabad and Chennai will be able to connect to overseas destinations through major hubs like New Delhi without the hassle of repeated check-ins and baggage transfers. The first service, operated by Air India, connects Varanasi via New Delhi to destinations including Dubai, Colombo, Jeddah, Riyadh and Phuket. The new 'Easy Connect' system will allow passengers to complete immigration formalities and baggage check-in at their origin airport, making international travel more seamless and efficient.
