Ukrainian defence company Fire Point says it is developing a low-cost ballistic missile interceptor with support from more than a dozen European defence firms as Kyiv seeks alternatives to the U.S.-made Patriot air defence system.

Speaking to Reuters, Fire Point CEO Iryna Terekh said the company aims to compress decades of missile development into just a few years, with a first successful interception targeted by mid-2027. The project is designed to provide a more affordable defence against Russia's ballistic missile attacks while increasing Europe's defence capabilities.
