US Attorney for Washington, DC, Jeanine Pirro said that additional charges are expected against Cole Allen, the suspect in the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner shooting.
Pirro described the incident as an assassination attempt against President Donald Trump, alleging that the suspect intended to “bring down as many of the high-ranking cabinet officials as he could.”
“There will be additional charges as this investigation continues to unfold,” Pirro said. “But make no mistake, this was an attempted assassination of the President of the United States, with the defendant making clear what his intent was.”
She added, “Cole Allen’s journey of accountability in the criminal justice system starts today.”
Meanwhile, acting US Attorney General Todd Blanche commented on the broader “threat environment” in the United States.
