Traoré's Sharia Ban Triggers NIGERIA'S MOST DANGEROUS Cleric

Nigeria's most controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has attacked Burkina Faso's president, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, over his declaration that Burkina Faso will never become a Sharia state. In a Facebook post on July 25, 2026, Gumi called the 38-year-old leader "too naive" to understand religion, society and geopolitics, and warned that his anti-Sharia stance would hand extremist groups a recruitment tool.

In this episode, we report exactly what Gumi said, correct the record on what he got factually wrong about Traoré, and then ask the question Nigeria refuses to ask: who is Sheikh Gumi really speaking for? This is the man who enters forests to negotiate with armed bandit groups, who called kidnappers "revenge seekers," who described the abduction of schoolchildren as a "lesser evil" — while Nigeria's own National Human Rights Commission counted 2,266 people killed by these groups in the first half of 2025 alone. This is the man Saudi Arabia detained for over 6 months in 2010 and deported again in 2025 — yet inside Nigeria, he walks free, talks to the media, and lectures other African nations.

We also take you to Guinea-Conakry, where authorities are moving against radicalization networks and the preachers who feed them — proof that the sovereignty question Traoré raised is now a West African question, not just a Sahel question.

This is geopolitics from Africa's own point of view. Analysis, not emotion.
