Traoré Is Pushing Out Foreign Gold Giants. Who's Getting the Mines? You'll Be Surprised
リアクション
2026年06月02日
For decades, Burkina Faso's $7 billion gold industry was controlled by foreign companies — Canadian, Australian, British. Before Ibrahim Traoré took power, just ONE of the country's 15 industrial gold mines was run by a national company. The rest belonged to outsiders.
In under three years, that flipped. Six mines are now in Burkinabe hands. Three are directly controlled by the state.
But here's the part nobody explains: the other three didn't go to the government. They went to local billionaires — men like Inoussa Kanazoé, whose company just acquired the BMC and Roxgold mines.
So we ask the question almost nobody is asking: when you push out the foreign billionaires and replace them with local billionaires — who actually wins? The people, or just a different set of rich men?
We give you both sides. No propaganda. No fairy tales. The honest story.
