Datuk Zaid Ibrahim’s potential move into PAS raises an interesting question: is the party looking to broaden its appeal beyond its traditional voter base?

The approach did not come through an aggressive recruitment effort. Instead, the idea was first casually raised by PAS central committee member Tan Sri Annuar Musa, before being followed up by PAS leadership-eventually leading to a membership form being sent to Zaid’s home.

Despite his long-standing views being well known, Zaid says he was surprised by how warmly he was received, describing the welcome as even better than what he experienced in UMNO.

Could Zaid Ibrahim be part of PAS’ attempt to reach voters beyond its traditional support base?
