Major-General Firoz Khan and Major-General Ebrahim Kadwa have been arrested following a long investigation into illicit precious metals transactions. A civilian suspect has also been taken into custody. These high-ranking South African Police Service (SAPS) officials were arrested over the weekend and will face serious charges in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

​The investigation, led by Gauteng Counter Intelligence Operations, unraveled allegations of unlawful dealings in precious metals, corruption, and defeating the ends of justice. These arrests represent a significant effort by SAPS to tackle internal corruption and unlawful activities related to mineral resources. Major-General Khan and Major-General Kadwa are well-known figures within the South African law enforcement landscape. Major-General Kadwa currently holds the position of Gauteng Provincial Head of the Hawks (DPCI).
