Captain Ibrahim Traoré has inaugurated TEXFORCES-BF, a major textile industrial complex designed to transform Burkina Faso's own cotton into uniforms, fabric and finished clothing on Burkinabè soil.

According to the project figures presented in this documentary, the TEXFORCES-BF complex in Logofourousso, Bobo-Dioulasso represents an investment of approximately 17 billion CFA francs and occupies a 30-hectare site.

Its stated production capacity includes:

🔥 6 million uniforms per year
🔥 6 million T-shirts per year
🔥 1 million pairs of socks per year
🔥 20 million metres of woven fabric
🔥 12 tonnes of cotton fiber processed daily

But the bigger story isn't simply the size of the factory.

For years, Burkina Faso has been a major cotton-producing country while much of the value-added textile manufacturing occurred elsewhere.

TEXFORCES-BF represents an attempt to change that economic model.

Instead of producing cotton, exporting the raw material and depending heavily on foreign manufacturers for finished products, Burkina Faso wants to build more of the textile value chain at home:

Cotton → Thread → Fabric → Finished Clothing

The complex is designed to manufacture uniforms for Burkina Faso's Armed Forces, National Gendarmerie, Police, Firefighters and Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland, while also developing civilian production.

The project also carries a major employment ambition.

According to figures presented in the documentary, TEXFORCES generated approximately 1,300 construction jobs, with around 600 direct jobs and 15,000 indirect jobs associated with its initial operations. Longer-term ambitions are substantially larger.

And perhaps most importantly, the project is being presented as part of Captain Ibrahim Traoré's broader strategy of economic, technological and industrial sovereignty.
