Traore unveils Burkina's locally produced military tactical vehicles

In this video, the President of Burkina Faso Captain Ibrahim Traore reveals crucial details of the new made in Burkina Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles, named “Nanga” (meaning "scorpion", that are currently being locally designed and produced by the Burkina military and automotive engineers, specifically tailored to adapt to the rough Sahel terrain and ruthless battlefield.
It is a revelation that the 38 year old head of state made on Monday September 21st 2026, where he said that after analyzing each imported MRAPs in the region, such as South Africa's Casspirs, the French Bastion ACMAT, the Australian Bushmaster, the Chinese Norincos and many more, they found consistent weaknesses in all of them, whereby these armored vehicles are mainly designed to withstand 7.62 millimeter fire at relatively longer distances, yet in the current war against Sahel violent extremist groups, you fall into an ambush where a 12.7 millimeter machine gun is firing at you from less than 30 meters away.
That therefore after reflection, the Burkinabes designed something adapted to their conditions, something that is terrain resistant, capable of taking 12.7 millimeter rounds even from less than 15 meters away, capable of navigating the rough, sandy, dusty and sometimes muddy terrain anywhere without roads, and as well effective and easy to maintain.
On the same, Captain Ibrahim Traore revealed that as from November 2025, the company has produced over 300 vehicles, and that there are actually 5 such local companies that were exclusively created for the military domain to produce specific assets and equipment, but vowed that they are all confidential for now, and the state is never going to inaugurate or show them to anyone any time soon.
He thus called on all Africans or rather black people to stop belittling their fellow black people whenever they make a step to attain self-reliance, because sovereignty and development does not only mean having foreign built fancy buildings, roads or foreign industries on your soil, but rather calls for being able to produce by your own without relying on foreign investors, and consuming what you produce.
