Associate Professor Muhammad Faisal Ibrahim has resigned from Singapore's political office on Monday (Jul 20) citing personal reasons. The Prime Minister's Office revealed the resignation followed an email from a female member of the public regarding her interactions with him.

Investigations found no criminal offence was committed by either party, though both alleged harassment against each other. In his resignation letter, Assoc Prof Faisal acknowledged a "lapse of judgement" in handling interactions with the woman and admitted failing to establish clearer boundaries earlier. He recognised his conduct fell short of expected standards. Prime Minister Wong acknowledged Faisal's admission of shortcomings and his decision to take responsibility, while also recognising his 20 years of public service contributions.
