The Justice Department just settled a lawsuit President Trump filed against the IRS by creating a $1.8 billion fund — and then quietly added a one-page supplement granting Trump, his family, and his businesses immunity from pending audits. Treasury's general counsel resigned the same day. IRS career lawyers had drafted a 25-page memo identifying defenses to the suit; DOJ never used it. The federal judge ordered both sides to brief whether they were actually adversaries or colluding. Trump withdrew before those briefs were due. This isn't normal. It isn't even close.
