Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Finance Indranee Rajah said in Parliament on Thursday (Sep 10) that workplaces must adapt to expanded childcare leave and better support employees with caregiving needs.

Responding to questions from NCMP Andre Low, MPs Poh Li San, Lee Hong Chuang and Cassandra Lee, Ms Indranee said the government will reimburse employers for child-related leave, while studying ways to support backfilling and flexible work arrangements. She said the measures would require changes in workplace norms and practices, with solutions tailored to different sectors.

The full recommendations from the Marriage and Parenthood Reset Work Group are expected in early 2027.
