日本大学と専修大学。日東駒専として一緒くたにされがちですが、なかなかどうして個性的。財務省の『直系』校だったり、マンモス校はマンモス校でも、実は理系が中心のマンモス校だったりと、意外な姿。官僚や帝大の影響力が強めでスタートしつつも、いろいろあって熱烈な生え抜きOBが盛り立てるようになった両校の歴史を、追ってみました。
Nihon University and Senshu University. They are often lumped together as 'Nitto Komasen,' but in reality, they are quite unique. One was a 'directly run' school under the Ministry of Finance, and though both are large universities, one is actually a massive school focused on science and engineering—revealing some unexpected characteristics. Both schools started with strong influences from bureaucrats and the Imperial Universities, but over time, various events led to enthusiastic alumni supporting and revitalizing them. We look back at the history of these two universities.
