National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has defended the electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) system against criticism, saying the platform is operating effectively and is helping to strengthen oversight of public spending. Mbadi told the Senate that 20 counties have transitioned to the electronic Government Procurement system. He says 9,800 tenders and more than 2,600 contracts worth 9 billion shillings have been processed on the system.
