The Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) is calling for broad stakeholder consultations on which taxes and margins should be suspended following a Cabinet directive aimed at reducing ex-pump fuel prices.

Chief Executive Officer of COMAC, Dr. Riverson Oppong, says uncertainty over the specific taxes and margins to be affected makes consultations necessary to ensure clarity and industry alignment.

The directive was issued to the Ministries of Finance and Energy as part of government’s efforts to provide temporary relief on fuel prices amid rising global costs.

Stakeholders in the downstream petroleum sector say clearer communication is needed to ensure smooth implementation and avoid market disruptions.
