Heal Your Gut With Carnivore [4 TIPS]

A carnivore diet is one of the best things you can do for chronic digestive issues. The logic is simple: cut out everything that could be irritating your gut, eat only meat, and give your body a chance to heal.

The problem is the transition. When you switch to eating only meat overnight, you can run into a whole new set of issues — diarrhea, constipation, bloating, feeling uncomfortably full. It's not the meat. It's that your body doesn't yet produce enough gastric juices and digestive enzymes to handle that sudden influx of protein and fat. And this is where most people give up. They feel terrible, they assume carnivore isn't for them, and they quit before they ever feel the benefits.

In this video, I share four tips you can use right away to make that transition dramatically smoother.

The first costs you nothing: cook your own meals. All you need is a cast iron or stainless steel skillet, some butter or tallow, the meat, and salt. The reason this matters is that the smell of meat cooking and the sound of it sizzling are cues for your digestive system to start getting ready. Your body releases the enzymes and acids it needs before the food ever hits your stomach. It's the same thing that happens when my German Shepherd sees his bowl and starts drooling. If you grab something on the go and wolf it down, your body never gets that head start, and your gut pays for it.

The second tip is to slow down. Don't eat in front of the TV, don't rush it. Your body needs time to digest what's coming down, and eating fast while distracted defeats the whole purpose.

The third is diluted organic apple cider vinegar, about 15 to 30 minutes before a meal. It's another trigger for your body to start producing the gastric juices you need to properly break down protein and fat.

And if those three aren't enough, the fourth is MassZymes from BiOptimizers. The product is a digestive enzymes supplement that helps your body break down protein and fat during the transition. I keep a bottle in my pantry for travel and for the times I know I'll be making less than ideal food choices, like when I visit my 93-year-old grandmother in Austria and she makes the wheat flour dumplings her grandmother taught her to make. It's not a shortcut for eating badly every day, but used strategically, it's a great tool.

I dealt with IBS for three decades. It went away when I cut out everything but meat, and I haven't had a gut issue since. These tips are here to get you through the rough part so you can actually get to that point.
