I Ate for Just $4.50 a Day! My Weekly Frugal Meal Plan on Social Security

Hi, friends, it's Grandma Joan! It's menu day, and I always look forward to sharing what I ate all week and exactly what it cost. This week's meals averaged just $4.54 a day, and I was honestly surprised because I never felt hungry or deprived. In fact, I enjoyed delicious, balanced meals every single day! This is for June 22 - June 27th.

In this video, I walk you through my complete weekly meal plan—from breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even my little afternoon and evening treats. You'll see how I stretch my grocery budget by cooking ahead, freezing individual portions, using leftovers wisely, and making sure nothing goes to waste. I believe you can eat nutritious, satisfying meals without spending a fortune.

This week I enjoyed everything from breakfast casserole, turkey sandwiches, homemade meatloaf, ground turkey dressing, rice casseroles, cottage cheese with tomatoes, steamed apples, homemade three-bean salad, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, fresh fruit, and even a special movie theater popcorn treat! I also share the cost of every meal so you can see exactly how I keep my monthly grocery budget low while still enjoying plenty of variety.

Living on Social Security has taught me that planning ahead makes all the difference. I prepare meals in batches, freeze portions for later, use fresh ingredients before they spoil, and always look for ways to stretch every dollar. Being frugal doesn't mean eating boring food—it means being thoughtful, avoiding waste, and making meals you'll actually look forward to eating.

If you're cooking for one, trying to lower your grocery bill, meal planning on a budget, or looking for realistic ways to save money without sacrificing good food, I hope this video encourages you. My goal is to show that delicious, nutritious meals don't have to cost a lot.

Thank you so much for following along with my weekly menus and for supporting our channel. I truly appreciate each and every one of you. Happy eating, and remember—you can eat well, save money, and still enjoy life's little treats!
