Good morning, dear friends—it’s Grandma Joan, and today I’m sharing one of my favorite little frugal living tips—a simple way to save money that many people might never think about!
As you know, I’ve always believed that being thrifty and frugal isn’t about being deprived—it’s about using what you have wisely and making every dollar stretch a little further. This morning, while using my arthritis pain relief cream, I was reminded of one of those small habits that has saved me money for years.
When the tube starts to feel empty and it becomes hard to squeeze out the last bit, most people toss it away. But not me! Instead, I carefully cut the tube open—and let me tell you, there’s often several more days’ worth of cream still inside. That means I can make each tube last longer, save a few extra dollars, and put that money toward something meaningful—like treating a friend to lunch who helps drive me where I need to go.
At 92 years old, I’ve learned that small savings add up. Whether it’s using every bit of ointment, stretching groceries, or avoiding waste, these simple habits can make a real difference—especially when living on a Social Security budget.

In this video, I share:
✨ A simple money-saving tip you can use today
✨ How to get every last bit out of a tube of ointment or cream
✨ Why small frugal living habits can make a big difference
✨ My mindset on saving money and avoiding waste
✨ Living well on a fixed income
✨ Practical senior living tips for everyday life
✨ Why I believe every dollar saved can be used for something joyful

It may seem like a tiny thing, but I’ve found that thrifty living is often about paying attention to the little opportunities to save. Those extra few dollars here and there can add up to a lunch with a friend, a special outing, or simply the peace of knowing you’re making the most of what you have.
Thank you so much for spending a few minutes with me today. If you enjoy frugal living tips, simple homemaking, senior life, healthy aging, and practical ways to save money, I’d be honored if you’d subscribe to our channel and join me for more everyday wisdom from Grandma Joan.
