Strategic Meal Planning & Grocery Savings | Under $2 Meals + Preparing the Garden Harvest
Welcome back to the homestead! 🌱🇦🇺
Today we’re looking at strategic meal planning and smarter grocery shopping habits here in Australia, and how small changes to the way we shop, cook and prepare food can make a real difference to the family grocery budget.
First up, I’ll be meal prepping for the family with a goal of keeping each meal under $2 per person, while still making sure everyone is getting nutritious, filling and wholesome food. It’s all about making the most of what we have, planning ahead and finding ways to stretch the grocery budget without sacrificing quality.
I’ll also be putting some discounted vegetable boxes to good use. I’ll combine the vegetables with fresh produce from the garden and get everything cleaned, sorted and prepared ready for some future home canning projects. Buying discounted produce and preserving it when it’s available is one of the ways we can reduce waste, save money and build up a useful pantry for the months ahead.
Homesteading isn't always about growing everything ourselves — sometimes it's about being resourceful, watching prices, shopping strategically and making the most of seasonal and discounted food.
So, grab a cuppa and join me for another busy day around the homestead as we get these jobs done before the rain returns! ☔🌿
Welcome back, and let's get started!
